Indian Standard methods, licence numbers on the job, and a straight answer about what is not there yet.
BIS work has two shapes. A BIS-recognised laboratory tests product samples against an Indian Standard under a certification scheme. A manufacturer holding an ISI licence tests its own product to the same standard, continuously, and has to keep the records. ErgoLIMS handles both as testing-lab work with the standard in the method master and the licence on the job — but it is worth being clear that BIS is not modelled as an accreditation body in the way NABL is.

Indian Standards as methods
An IS number is a method reference like any other. It goes in the test master with its clause, its units, its decimal places and its acceptance limits, so the report cites the standard the test was actually run to.
- Method register carrying the IS number and revision year
- Specification limits per product grade, evaluated automatically
- Building materials, mechanical and electrical domain templates ship with IS-referenced methods
- Sample-type and product masters so a grade change does not mean re-typing the test list
Licence numbers on the record
The CM/L licence is captured at registration for the domains where it applies, so it appears on the job and can be printed on the report rather than being remembered by whoever types the certificate.

- Per-customer report templates, so a certification-scheme layout and a commercial layout can coexist
Continuous in-house testing
A manufacturer under an ISI licence tests to a schedule, and the value of the system is that the schedule runs itself and the evidence accumulates.
- Scheduled recurring jobs for routine control testing
- QC charts across production lots, with rule-based flagging
- Non-conformance and CAPA when a lot fails, linked to the job that found it
- Instrument calibration lockout, so a lapsed instrument stops producing reportable results
What ErgoLIMS does not do here
Every vendor page lists what the software handles. These are the boundaries, so you find them now rather than three weeks into an evaluation.
- BIS is not modelled as an accreditation body in the platform. There is no BIS module pack, so selecting BIS at signup does not switch on a curated module set the way NABL or FSSAI does — you select modules, or use the ISO 17025 pack if you also hold NABL.
- ErgoLIMS does not integrate with the BIS Manakonline portal and does not file anything with BIS.
- Indian Standards are copyright BIS and are not distributed with the software. Method text and limits are configured by you from your own licensed copies.
- Recognition of a laboratory under a BIS scheme is assessed by BIS. Software plays no part in that assessment.
